About Dr. Michael Levin

Dr. Michael Levin, MD, is a renowned expert in psychopharmacology and behavioral medicine with a career that spans decades of groundbreaking research, compassionate patient care, and influential teaching. After earning his M.S. in Pharmacology from New York Medical College, Dr. Levin went on to receive his M.D. from New York University School of Medicine. His medical journey took him to prestigious institutions like Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he developed his passion for integrating pharmacology and behavioral medicine to treat complex mental health conditions.

Dr. Levin further honed his expertise through a two-year fellowship in developmental-behavioral medicine and psychopharmacology at UCLA’s Neuropsychiatric Institute. This experience launched him into a faculty position at UC Irvine, where he contributed significantly to psychopharmacological research and became a thought leader in his field.

In Northern California, Dr. Levin founded the East Bay Psychopharmacology Group, serving as its Medical Director for 25 years. His work there included running a successful psychiatric practice, conducting pharmaceutical research, and advising major pharmaceutical companies on cutting-edge treatments. His dedication to improving mental health care has positively impacted countless lives through both his practice and research.

Dr. Levin's Passions

Dr. Levin’s passion for education also shines through his long-standing commitment to teaching. He taught Psychopathology and Psychopharmacology at UC Berkeley Extension for 16 years and has been a faculty member at Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine, sharing his knowledge with future generations of healthcare professionals.

Dr. Levin’s dedication to education extends into his personal life. Alongside his wife Charan, Dr. Levin is the publisher of educational children’s books, including the widely successful The Reading Lesson, which has become a top-selling resource for children learning to read in both the U.S. and the U.K. In his personal time, Dr. Levin enjoys spending quality moments with his family, including his two grown children, finding joy in a balance between his influential career and his life outside of medicine.
